Guelph Police responded to 184 calls for service

The following news releases were issued today by the Guelph Police Service:

Bikes stolen during residential break-in
Some time between 5 p.m. on Oct. 4 and 8 a.m. on Oct. 5, 2020, the garage of a residence located near the intersection of Edinburgh Road South and Waterloo Avenue in the City of Guelph was entered. Entry was gained as the back door to the garage was left unlocked. A black adult Cannondale bicycle with disc brakes, and a black and grey children’s 24-inch Wahoo bicycle were taken.

The Guelph Police Service would like to remind the public to always lock your garages.

Multiple thefts from motor vehicles
Some time overnight on Oct. 4, 2020, a vehicle parked in the driveway of a residence located near the intersection of Victoria Road North and Cassino Avenue in the City of Guelph was entered. Entry was gained as the vehicle was left unlocked.

Numerous items were taken including:
    •    Black Louis Vuitton bag valued at $4,000
    •    Mac Book Air valued at $2,800
    •    Apple EarPods valued at $200
    •    Front license plate

Some time overnight on Oct. 4, 2020, a vehicle parked outside a residence located near the intersection of Eastview Road and Victoria Road North in the City of Guelph was entered. Entry was gained as the rear driver’s side window was smashed.

Numerous items were taken including:
    •    Green Roots wallet containing various cards including debit and credit cards
    •    Large black Roots purse
    •    Tommy Hilfiger purse and wallet
    •    Black and gold Calvin Klein knapsack containing an iPad and textbooks

Her cards were then used purchase almost $500 worth of merchandise online.

Some time between 10:30 p.m. on Oct. 4 and 7 a.m. on Oct. 5, 2020, a vehicle parked outside a residence located near the intersection of Woodlawn Road East and Victoria Road North in the City of Guelph was entered. A large tool bag containing a variety of hand tools and accessories were taken. The value of all the stolen goods is $881.20.

An attempt was then made to enter the back door of the residence, however the entry was not successful due to a dead bolt on the door.

Some time between 10 and 10:30 a.m. on Oct. 5, 2020, a vehicle parked in the downtown core of the City of Guelph was entered. Entry was gained as the passenger’s side front window was smashed. Approximately $5 worth of change was taken.

The Guelph Police Service would like to remind the public to always lock your vehicles and to never leave valuables inside your vehicles.

Damage to motor vehicle
Some time between 6 p.m. on Oct. 4 and 7:45 a.m. on Oct. 5, 2020, the front passenger side window of a vehicle parked in a parking lot located near the intersection of Neeve Street and Wellington Street East in the City of Guelph was smashed. Nothing was taken.

Damage to keypad lockbox
Some time between Sept. 29 and 30, 2020, sand was poured into a keypad lockbox on the front door of a building located near the intersection of Waterloo Avenue and Gordon Street in the City of Guelph. This rendered the keypad lockbox inoperable causing $50 worth of damage.

Multiple motor vehicle collisions and driving complaints
Over the past 24 hours the Guelph Police Service received reports of nine motor vehicle collisions and four driving complaints occurring throughout the City of Guelph. The Guelph Police Service would like to remind the public to slow down and follow the rules of the road to help ensure everyone arrives to their destination safely.
