Vehicle stopped after woman seen holding infant in back seat

On Oct. 6, 2020 at 1:22 p.m., a concerned member of the public contacted the Guelph Police Service in regards to an adult male driving a motor vehicle near the intersection of Silvercreek Parkway North and Willow Road in the City of Guelph with an adult female sitting in the back seat holding an infant.

At 1:44 p.m., police located the vehicle in the area, a traffic stop was initiated and the driver was subsequently issued a Provincial Offence Notice under the Highway Traffic Act.

A 35-year-old Guelph male has been charged with fail to ensure infant properly secured.

Please note that the infant was not injured in this incident.

In addition, the Guelph Police Service would also like to remind the public of the following offences under the Highway Traffic Act:
    •    Fail to ensure toddler properly secured
    •    Fail to ensure child properly secured
