On December 20, 2016 at approximately 7 p.m., the Guelph Police conducted a traffic stop with a motor vehicle on Edinburgh Road North after observing it driving at a high rate of speed.

Drive over 80 mg

On Dec. 20, 2016 at approximately 7 p.m., the Guelph Police conducted a traffic stop with a motor vehicle on Edinburgh Road North after observing it driving at a high rate of speed. Police spoke with the female driver and a demand was made for a roadside breath sample. She failed this test and as police attempted to arrest her she resisted and tried to run back to her car. After a short struggle, she was taken into custody.

Jenna Lynn Mcintosh-Rigano, 31 years old of Guelph has been charged with drive over 80 mg and resist arrest. She was also charged under the Highway Traffic Act with speeding. She will appear in court on Jan. 6, 2017. 

Theft from cars

On Dec. 20, 2016 the Guelph Police received seven reports from Guelph residents about thefts from their cars. The locations were Colonial Drive, Shoemaker Crescent, Bristol Street, Woolwich Street, Jeffrey Drive, Edgehill Drive and Flaherty Drive.

This crime is easily avoided by locking your cars, keeping valuables out of sight or removed from your vehicle and parked in a well-lit and visible area where possible. Police patrol leads to arrest 

On Dec. 21, 2016 at 2:15 a.m., the Guelph Police were patrolling the Dawson Road/Willow Road area and observed a motor vehicle being driven suspiciously. A traffic stop was conducted on Willow Road. Investigation discovered that one of the occupants was breaching court imposed conditions and he was arrested. 

The 20-year-old Guelph man has been charged with three counts of breach of probation and breach of recognizance. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing on Dec. 21, 2016.

Police incidents over the last 24 hours

The Guelph Police were involved in 150 incidents in this time frame. Incidents involve everything from traffic stops and accidental 911 calls to domestics and break and enters.
