Woman arrested for repeated laundry room thefts

A Guelph female faces a long list of charges following a series of break-ins to a laundry room at a downtown apartment building.

On seven occasions during February and early March a female was caught on video entering the laundry room in a building where she is not a tenant. Each time she broke into the machines and used a homemade tool to steal change. On four other occasions she attempted to enter the laundry room with a pry bar causing approximately $240 in damage.

A suspect was seen by police walking downtown Tuesday and was arrested. During a search officers located an electric grinder, screwdrivers, a crowbar and a flashlight.

A 37-year-old Guelph female is charged with seven counts of break and enter, eight counts of possessing break-in instruments, mischief under $5,000, breach of probation and failing to comply with an undertaking. She was held for a bail hearing Thursday.
