Woman charged with aggravated assault after victim stabbed

Victim suffered a punctured lung and is in serious but non-life threatening condition

On Oct. 4, 2020 just before 1:40 p.m., an adult male attended to an apartment inside a residential building located in the downtown core of the City Guelph. [It is alleged that] the male confronted an adult male and an adult female inside the apartment regarding money that was owed to him. The argument escalated, turned physical and ultimately resulted in the female stabbing the male seeking the money in the back.

The victim left the apartment and the Guelph Police Service was notified.

The victim suffered a punctured lung and was transported to the Guelph General Hospital for treatment by the Guelph Wellington Paramedic Services in serious but non-life threatening condition.

At 2:12 p.m., police located the female walking in the downtown core and she was subsequently arrested.

A 44-year-old Guelph female has been charged with aggravated assault.

She was held in custody pending a bail hearing on Oct. 5.
