WELLINGTON COUNTY – A new working committee is looking to connect and engage with committed and professional women from Wellington County.

The Centre Wellington Chamber of Commerce (CWCC) has announced the launch of the Collaborative Women of Wellington County (CWOW).

This group’s mission is to provide a safe forum with opportunities to learn, connect and access expertise. The leadership team is made up of local business owners with Grand River Raceway hospitality director Katie Giddy as chair.

Janet Harrop, CWOW member, said they are excited to offer this committee geared towards women in Wellington County.

“The group has worked hard to finalize their mission, vision and core activities and ensure that they fit with the needs of professional women in this community,” Harrop said in a press release.

The committee has begun planning quarterly events where participants will be invited to relate, learn and network with other women.

“CWOW will provide a fun environment for women who identify themselves as leaders, or future leaders, to get together and share an experience such as a guest speaker or an evening of networking,” Giddy said in a press release.

“Due to COVID-19 restrictions, in the short term we expect to deliver these events online. However, the vision is to always make events accessible to a wide audience of women from the county.”

CWOW stressed that the group is inclusive.

“Regardless of whether you own a company, work for a company or are a leader in your home, this group will have something for you as we learn and grow together as committed individuals in our community,” the press release from CWOW said.

Those interested are asked to follow CWOW’s Facebook page or to subscribe to their email list to stay up to date.
