ELORA – It will be a different experience from what gamblers are used to, but Elements Casino Grand River is opening after being shuttered for six months.

OLG and Great Canadian Gaming Corp. announced that 11 Ontario casinos, including Elora’s, will be reopening on Sept. 28 under provincial guidelines.

These guidelines will include an indoor gathering limit of up to 50 guests with typical social distance and mask rules.

No table games will be open and visitors will have to pre-book their gaming sessions online. This reservation tool will be on the casino website’s main page in the upcoming weeks.

Those who book will be sent a QR code that needs to be brought either on a phone or printed. Visitors are asked to arrive 15 minutes before their scheduled time to check-in.

There will be no food or drinks available.

Great Canadian Gaming Corp. CEO Rod Baker said in a press release that he’s pleased to safely reopen facilities in Ontario to bring employees back to work but there will be little profit for the company.

“Once open, gaming revenue in each jurisdiction will be significantly reduced due to operating restrictions,” Baker said. “The reductions will be especially significant for our Ontario properties where, due to the 50-guest maximum restriction, we expect no material financial benefit to the company.”
