On Feb. 4, 2020 at 4:30 p.m., a blue Dodge four-door sedan pulled up to a 58-year-old male working out front of a residence located near the intersection of Forest Street and Edinburgh Road South in the City of Guelph.

An adult female in the front passenger seat waved over the male asking for directions to the hospital. The male attempted to give directions but the female said that she did not speak English well and insisted that he come closer. The female then began touching the neck of the male. The male finished giving the directions and the female immediately exited the vehicle. She then attempted to give the male a hug, which was refused at first, but the female insisted, stating it was part of her culture to give a hug in appreciation for help. The male eventually agreed and during the hug the male felt the female’s hand touching his neck again. He then noticed his 24kt yellow gold necklace with a matching cross pendant ($3,000-$4,000 value) was missing. He confronted the female who hurried back to the vehicle. The male followed and the interaction continued, until the adult male driver said, “Here’s your necklace,” placed a necklace in his hand and accelerated away. The 58-year-old male inspected the necklace, noticed that it did not belong to him and it was fake.

Another adult female was observed sitting in the back seat of the vehicle during the incident.
