Arrest made in investigation of theft at Rockwood construction site

On Jan. 16, 2021, at approximately 4:30 a.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a theft in progress at new housing construction site in Rockwood.  

It was reported that a suspect was observed loading construction materials into the back of a red pick-up truck.  

Shortly after the suspect left the scene, police spotted the truck loaded with the stolen property on Wellington Road 124 near Wellington Road 27. The lone suspect was arrested and the property was recovered.

John Michael Wheeler, 39 years old of Guelph has been charged with theft under $5,000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused is schedule to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice-Guelph on Feb. 19, 2021 to answer to the charge.
