A Guelph business owner is likely out more than $5,000 after the business was broken into earlier this week.

Shortly after 11 a.m. Thursday, the owner of the business on Woodlawn Road West near Hanlon Expressway called to report the burglary. The owner, who does not live in Guelph, received notification on Sunday that his alarm had gone off. Twice since that time he has had friends check the premise and confirm it appeared secure and the doors were locked.

But when the owner went inside Thursday, items had been thrown around, interior doors forced open and alcohol and other items were missing. The total value of the damage and theft will exceed $5,000. It is not known how entry was gained.

The incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call Const. Tyler Galea at 519-824-1212, ext. 7285, email him at [email protected], leave an anonymous tip for Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or leave an anonymous tip online at www.csgw.tips.
