Driver who fled during February stop facing multitude of charges

A driver from Kitchener has been charged with dangerous operation and flight from a peace officer in addition to a drug charge and others

On Feb. 16, 2023, a member of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was monitoring traffic on Gordon Street, Guelph. At approximately 1:30 p.m., the member observed a grey sedan commit a traffic offence. A traffic stop was performed, and the driver fled.

As a result of the investigation, [a 22-year-old] from Kitchener, has been charged with dangerous operation and flight from peace officer, contrary to the Criminal Code. Further, the accused was also charged with drive motor vehicle - fail to stop (two counts), drive motor vehicle - no licence and fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. Further, the accused was also charged with drive vehicle with cannabis readily available contrary to the Cannabis Control Act. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice - Guelph, on April 28, 2023.
