In the early afternoon hours of May 6, a man was confronted by three staff members at an Elizabeth Street business when he took a licence plate off a vehicle in the lot there and then was seen taking tools from a storage area.

He dropped the tools and first tried to threaten the three and when that didn’t work he tried to negotiate his release with property that he had stolen from another address.

The employees would have none of it and continued to detain the man until police arrived and arrested him.

A 28-year-old Guelph man is charged with a total of 11 criminal offences including break and enter, uttering threats, theft, possession of stolen property and breach of probation. He was held in custody and is to appear in bail court.
