A Waterloo female faces impaired driving charges after several callers reported a motor vehicle being driven erratically in Guelph Monday evening.

Approximately 5:30 p.m. the Guelph Police Service began receiving reports of an SUV swerving and hitting the curb in the area of Woodlawn Road West and Elmira Road North. Officers located and stopped the vehicle on Woodlawn Road West near Edinburgh Road North.

The female driver was unable to understand basic commands to place the vehicle in park, pressing on the gas pedal while the vehicle was in neutral. Officers arrested the female and removed her from the vehicle. Breath tests at the police station confirmed she had more than the legal limit of alcohol in her system.

A 55-year-old Waterloo female is charged with impaired operation and impaired operation – blood alcohol concentration. Her driver’s licence was immediately suspended for 90 days and her motor vehicle impounded for seven days. She will appear in a Guelph court June 25.
