Fire department responds to house fire

Firefighters performed an aggressive exterior attack which resulted in the fire being contained to the garage area of the home

On June 3,2018 at approximately 11:10 p.m., the Guelph Fire Department responded to a reported house fire at 66 Queensdale Cres., Guelph, Ont.

Arriving at the scene, firefighters found a fully involved two-storey house with visible flames coming from the garage. All occupants of the structure had self-evacuated upon arrival.

The fire was quickly brought under control and subsequently extinguished. Firefighters performed an aggressive exterior attack which resulted in the fire being contained to the garage area of the home. Smoke damage to the interior of the home was also present.

There were no injuries to firefighting personnel. One occupant of the home suffered scratches while removing the family cat and was treated at the scene by Guelph Wellington Paramedics.

The cause of the fire, along with a damage estimate, is under investigation by Guelph Fire investigators, Guelph Police and the Fire Marshall’s Office. Guelph Fire and Guelph Police are on scene awaiting the arrival of the Fire Marshall and will follow up with their investigation.
