In the last 24 hours, Guelph police dealt with 234 calls for service

The following news releases were issued today by the Guelph Police Service:

Wanted man arrested
On May 31, 2018, while on routine patrol, Guelph police officers were downtown and observed a male that was known to be wanted for failing to re-attend court. The male was arrested without incident. Subsequent to the arrest, the male is alleged to have drugs and property on his person.

The 47-year-old Guelph male was charged with two counts of possessing identity documents, two counts of possessing a stolen credit card, possessing a controlled substance and two counts of breaching his probation order. He was held for a bail hearing.

Impaired driving
On May 31, 2018 at approximately 6:50 p.m., Guelph police were called to a business on York Road, where citizens called and were concerned about the condition of a driver. Police attended and located the suspect. As a result of this investigation, William Leighton, a 50-year-old Guelph male, was arrested and charged with impaired driving and over 80.

Break and enter
On May 31, 2018, Guelph police were called to a Renfield Street address to investigate a break and enter. Culprit(s) entered the house sometime in the morning hours and stole cash and jewelry.
