Guelph man charged with impaired following Dufferin collision

On Saturday, shortly before 7 a.m., Dufferin OPP officers responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision on County Road 11 in Amaranth Township, just northwest of Orangeville.

Dufferin OPP said in a news release that officers located a single vehicle that had left the roadway. During the investigation, officers were led into an impaired driving investigation.

As a result, a 30-year-old from man from Guelph has been charged with:

· Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
· Possession of a Schedule I substance - Opioid
· Driver fail to surrender licence
· Fail to have insurance card
· Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle
· Failure of refusal to comply with demand

The accused persons are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville to answer to the charges at a later date in March. Their driver's licence was suspended for 90 days, and their vehicle impounded for seven days.
