The Guelph Police Service dealt with 755 calls for service over the weekend

The following news releases were issued today by the Guelph Police Service:

Break and enter
On May 25, 2018 Guelph police were called to a Rickson Avenue residence for a beak and enter. Unknown suspect(s) entered the residence and took several items, including jewelry. Anyone with information in regard to incident is asked to contact Cst. Break and enter - arrest
On May 7, 2018, Guelph police began an investigation in regard to an attempt break and enter into a residence in the downtown area. As a result of investigation, a female was identified as the responsible party. On May 26, 2018, at approximately 12:20 a.m., Haley Dieleman, a 21-year-old Guelph female, was arrested for attempt break and enter as well as breaching a probation order. She was given a July 3, 2018 court date.

Guelph police would like to remind home owners and business of the importance of proper working video surveillance and digital recording devices. These devices aid in police investigations and help protect home and business owners of their property.

Property damage
On Saturday, May 26, 2018, at approximately 7:40 a.m., Guelph police were called to a Hewitt Lane address where there was a report of property damage. Specifically, someone had smashed a window of a car that was parked on the street.

A witness was able to describe the suspect, who was seen running away from the area. The suspect is described as a male, dark skin, 5’7”, wearing a black hoodie and silver watch.

Unwanted visitor
On May 27, 2018 at approximately 10:20 a.m., Guelph police were called to a residence in the east end for an unwanted visitor. Residents called as they had located a large snake on their front lawn. With the assistance of the Guelph Humane Society, the snake was removed without any further issues.

Stunt driving
On May 27, 2018 at approximately 7:25 p.m., the Guelph Police Traffic Unit were conducting radar in the area of Stone Road and Victoria Road.  As a result, a 20-year-old Cambridge male was charged with stunt driving and speeding. He was given an automatic seven-day drivers licence suspension and his vehicle was impounded.

From 6 a.m. on May 25, 2018 until 6 a.m. on May 28, 2018, the Guelph Police Service dealt with 755 calls for service.
