The Guelph man observed on the weekend smashing the window of his own car after he crashed it while allegedly impaired is in more hot water, after a Guelph Police officer recognized the vehicle from a gas drive-off days earlier.
The 27-year-old male was charged with impaired operation and dangerous driving early Sunday after losing control of his motor vehicle and hitting a hydro pole on Edinburgh Road South near College Avenue West. A witness saw the irate male take a piece of wood from inside the vehicle afterwards and smash the rear window.
Following his release on those charges, another officer realized he was the suspect in a gas drive-off at a gas station near Wellington Street West and Imperial Road South on January 12 in which $24 of fuel was stolen.
On Monday he was further charged with theft. He will appear in court May 7.
