Niagara pair charged with walking out of store with $1,000 worth of unpaid items

A male and female from Niagara Region face theft charges in Guelph after walking out of a north-end store Tuesday with almost $1,000 worth of unpaid product, report Guelph police.

The pair were observed about 3:15 p.m. pushing a shopping cart full of items out of a store on Woodlawn Road West near Woolwich Street, police report.

Staff followed the pair while calling police. Officers located them a short distance away and arrested them.

A 47-year-old male from St. Catharines and a 43-year-old female from Port Colborne are charged with theft under $5,000 and possession of stolen property under $5,000.

They will both appear in a Guelph court June 15.
