Police say there were no injuries or arrests after the Guelph Police tactical unit was called to the Guelph General Hospital emergency department to deal with an aggressive male Tuesday afternoon.

Const. Mike Gatto said hospital staff called police at 1:15 p.m. after a man became aggressive with staff, trying to throw a bench.

Gatto said due to the level of aggressiveness and the potential for a more serious situation to develop, the tactical unit was called in and the incident was resolved.

Gatto said it turned out to be a mental health situation and no arrest was made and nobody was injured.

Officers cleared the scene by 4:30 p.m.
