A Guelph female spent a couple of days in jail after repeatedly threatening to commit crimes to protest mask legislation.

On Sunday morning, about 10:20, Guelph police were called to a business on Silvercreek Parkway North. A female customer had gone behind the counter and began throwing product around after she was denied service for not wearing a mask.

The female was arrested for mischief, but as officers were explaining the process to be released on conditions the female indicated if she was released she would go back inside and repeat the behaviour. The female was transported to the police station, where she repeatedly stated if she was released she would attend other businesses and demand service without a mask. She said if she was denied service she would commit further criminal acts in protest.

A 49-year-old Guelph female is charged with mischief under $5,000. She will appear in a Guelph bail court Tuesday.
