Police deal with robbery, assault and transportation fraud on Friday

Over the past 24-hours Guelph police dealt with 271 calls for service, including a robbery, assault of a police officer and a passenger reluctant to pay his taxi fare.

Robbery - three arrested

On April 26, 2019 Guelph Police attended to a North-End Hotel in Guelph after receiving a call that a robbery had occurred. At approximately 10:30 a.m., a male and two females entered the hotel room, took various items while brandishing a knife and bear spray. There we no injuries reported. The suspects were known to the victim and police were able to locate and arrest all three.

A 26-year-old Guelph male has been charged with robbery, weapons dangerous and breach of probation.

A 22-year-old Guelph female has been charged with robbery, weapons dangerous and breach of probation.

A 39-year-old Guelph female has been charged with robbery and weapons dangerous.

All three were held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man arrested after he assaults officer

On April 26, 2019, Guelph Police were called to a residence to assist with an uncooperative male. The male became aggressive and assaultive with police and was subsequently arrested. One officer involved sustained minor injures and was treated at the Guelph General Hospital.

The 24-year-old male has been charged with assault police. He will appear in court on June 7, 2019.

Transportation Fraud

On April 26,2019 the Guelph Police attended to the area of Marksam Road to assist a cab driver with a passenger refusing to pay. The male began kicking the taxi cab, causing damage to a headlight.

The 25-year-old Guelph male has been charged with transportation fraud, mischief to property and breach undertaking. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Male arrested on warrant

A 24-year-old Guelph male was arrested on a warrant for theft over. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Over the past 24 hours the Guelph Police Service dealt with 271 calls for service.
