A Guelph man faces charges in connection with recent break and enters at two downtown businesses.

Just before 11 a.m. Tuesday, the Guelph Police Service was contacted by the owner of a downtown business reporting a break and enter. Video surveillance revealed a male entering the business about 9:15 p.m. Monday using a key from a lock box located in front of the store. Once inside the male removed a cash box containing a quantity of cash.

A male matching the description of the suspect from the video was located outside an address on Woolwich Street near Speedvale Avenue West. When questioned, he was found to be in possession of property from the burglary as well as property stolen during a weekend break-in at a different downtown business.

The 30-year-old man is charged with break and enter, possessing property obtained by crime and breach of probation.

He will appear in court April 16.
