Replica hand gun found during Guelph arrest linked to Cambridge robbery, say police

Guelph Police arrested an 18-year-old Mississauga man Tuesday in connection to an attempted robbery. During the investigation a replica handgun was seized.

On Wednesday, members of Waterloo Regional Police Service's Robbery Unit arrested an 18-year-old Mississauga male in Guelph in relation to a robbery that occurred at a telecommunication store in Cambridge on Jan. 14. Police were able to link the replica handgun recovered by Guelph Police to this robbery, says a news release from Waterloo Regional Police.

During the Cambridge robbery, police report that three suspects entered the store, and two of the suspects threatened the employees with firearms. The suspects fled the store with an undisclosed amount of electronic products.

The male has been charged with robbery with a firearm, forcible confinement, point firearm, weapons dangerous, carry a concealed weapon, possession of stolen property over $5,000 and disguise with intent.

The accused is scheduled to appear in court Thursday. Two other suspects remain outstanding. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 519-570-9777 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
