Six drivers face impaired charges

One driver was observed having difficulty driving within his lane

On Saturday, May 26, 2018, members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were patrolling Jones Baseline near Eastview Road, Guelph. At approximately 2 a.m., police observed a driver failing to drive within his lane.

The vehicle was stopped and while speaking with the driver, officers formed the opinion that he was under the influence of alcohol. A roadside screening test was conducted which resulted in a fail. He was arrested and brought to a local OPP Operations Centre for further testing.

Twenty-two-year-old Tyler Grant Eden of Waterloo has been charged with driving with over 80 mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood contrary to the Criminal Code. A 90-day administrative driver's licence suspension (A.D.L.S.) and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Court on June 19, 2018.

TOWNSHIP OF GUELPH/ERAMOSA - On Friday, May 25, 2018, members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were patrolling Main Street, Rockwood.

At approximately 11 a.m. police stopped a four door sedan and while speaking with the driver, officers formed the opinion that he was under the influence of alcohol. A roadside screening test was conducted which resulted in a fail. He was arrested and brought to a local OPP Operations Centre for further testing.

Twenty-five-year-old Kyle Dorst of Guelph has been charged with driving with over 80 mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood and for being a novice driver with a blood-alcohol concentration above zero. A 90-day administrative driver's licence suspension (A.D.L.S.) and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Court on June 19, 2018.

TOWN OF ERIN - On Tuesday, May 29, 2018, members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were patrolling Trafalgar Road, Brisbane.

At approximately 10 p.m., police stopped a blue SUV and while speaking with the driver formed the opinion that she was impaired by alcohol. She was arrested and brought to a local OPP Operations Centre for further testing.

Thirty-seven-year-old Brandy Michelle Murray of Hillsburgh has been charged with impaired driving and driving with over 80 mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood. A 90-day administrative driver's licence suspension (A.D.L.S.) and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. She is scheduled to appear in Guelph Court on June 19, 2018.

TOWNSHIP OF PUSLINCH - On Wednesday May 30, 2018, members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) Check on Gore Road, near Cambridge. At approximately 9:30 p.m. the driver of a green SUV entered the R.I.D.E. check.

While speaking with the male driver, officers formed the opinion that he was under the influence of alcohol. A roadside screening test was conducted which resulted in a fail. He was arrested and brought to a local OPP Operations Centre for further testing.

Thirty-three-year-old Mark C. MacDonald of Hamilton has been charged with driving with over 80 mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood contrary to the Criminal Code and with driving without a licence contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. A 90-day administrative driver's licence suspension and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Court on June 29, 2018.

While speaking with the male driver, officers formed the opinion that he was under the influence of alcohol. A roadside screening test was conducted which resulted in a fail. He was arrested and brought to a local OPP Operations Centre for further testing.

Fifty-seven-year-old Santana Rodriguez Melendez of Guelph has been charged with driving with over 80 mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood contrary to the Criminal Code. A 90-day administrative driver's licence suspension (A.D.L.S.) and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Court on June 22, 2018.

On Friday June 1, 2018 members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere check on the Hanlon Expressway, Guelph. At approximately 2:30 a.m. the driver of a white sedan entered the R.I.D.E. check.

While speaking with the male driver, officers formed the opinion that he was under the influence of alcohol. The driver refused to provide a sample of breath when a roadside screening test was conducted. He was arrested and charged.

32-year-old Tyler Christopher Legein of Milton has been charged with refusing to provide a sample of breath contrary to the Criminal Code. A 90-day administrative driver's licence suspension and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Court on June 22, 2018.
