Stolen vehicle leads to numerous charges for Guelph man

The suspect is accused of swiping keys from a locker and taking a vehicle from the parking lot

On June 28, 2018 at approximately 10:18 p.m., Guelph Police were called to a community centre in the south end of Guelph for a report of a stolen vehicle. (It is alleged that) a male entered the community centre, went into the male change room and broke into a locker where he stole the keys to a vehicle. The male then located the vehicle in the parking lot and drove off.

Guelph Police obtained video surveillance of the building and were able to positively identify the (suspect). Police searched the area of the male’s residence and located the stolen vehicle. Police then attended to the male’s residence, where he was arrested and charged with motor vehicle theft and possession of stolen property over $5,000.

Further investigation revealed that the male was on a Recognizance of Bail and a suspended driver, resulting in additional charges of breach of recognizance (x2), drive disqualified and driving while driver’s licence suspended.

The 33-year-old Guelph male was held for bail hearing.
