Traffic stop leads to drug and weapon charges

On Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2017 at approximately 4 p.m., the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a motor vehicle for a Highway Traffic Act offence on Gordon Street in Fergus. Investigation revealed that a warrant existed for the driver.

Upon arrest, police located an assortment of weapons and illicit drugs. (The weapons are not classified as firearms.)

31-year-old Mathew Lee Pyke of Elora has been charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of oxycontin contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA). He was also charged with possession of a prohibited weapons contrary to the Criminal Code. He was held for bail court.
