Three-vehicle collision

On Monday, July 17, 2017 at 10 a.m., Guelph Police attended to a three-vehicle collision on Woodlawn Road West near Royal Road.

A 2012 Volkswagen, being operated by 24-year-old Guelph woman, attempted a left turn (eastbound) onto Woodlawn Road West from a commercial business driveway. The Volkswagen struck the side of an eastbound tractor trailer, being operated by a 45-year-old Brantford man. This collision caused the Volkswagen to rotate and subsequently crossed into the westbound traffic lanes into the path of a westbound tractor trailer that was being operated by a 20-year-old Waterloo man.

The Volkswagen was demolished as a result of the collision. The driver of the Volkswagen amazingly only suffered minor injuries. Both trucks sustained moderate damage. Approximate damage value to all three vehicles is $20,000.

The driver of the Volkswagen was charged for “Failing to Yield from a Driveway”, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. The City of Guelph Environmental Services attended to clean up the scene as vehicle fluids from two of the vehicles entered into the storm sewer.
