Woman arrested for stealing two poppy boxes in Guelph

Guelph Police have arrested a Guelph woman for stealing a poppy donation box from a store.

Police say that on Monday around 10 p.m. a woman took a poppy box from a store located near the intersection of Eramosa Road and Stevenson Street North.

She allegedly picked up the box, concealed it under her coat and left the store.

On Tuesday around 8 p.m. the same person reportedly took a second poppy box from a store in the downtown core. She picked up the box, concealed it in a bag and left the store.

On Thursday police found the female at a business located in the downtown core and she was subsequently arrested.

A 34-year-old Guelph woman has been charged with two counts of theft under $5,000.

She will appear in court on Feb. 21.
