A woman was arrested Monday after police say she tried to cash a cheque that had been stolen during a break-in last August.
Guelph Police report that sometime between last August and last Friday, a residence under construction near the intersection of Kathleen Street and London Road West was entered. Entry was gained through a basement window. Numerous items were taken including:
- Chocolate brown Asus K55V series laptop ($1,500 value)
- Logitech M325 wireless mouse ($40 value)
- Brown Samsonite high street leather flapover computer bag (valued at $200)
- Larrivee OM-05 acoustic guitar and hard case (valued at $2,000)
- Numerous cheques
On Monday at 1:31 p.m., Guelph Police were notified that a woman attempted to cash one of the stolen cheques at a downtown bank. The cheque was forged in the female’s name with a value of $754.
At 3:27 p.m., police found the female at a residence located near the intersection of Willow Road and Alma Street North. She was subsequently arrested.
A 44-year-old Guelph female has been charged with: Possess stolen property under $5,000 and uttering forged document.
The investigation is ongoing.
