Three-vehicle collision overnight on the 401 leads to tanker rollover

All westbound lanes have reopened and eastbound lanes are expected to reopen shortly

PUSLINCH– A major collision overnight on the 401 led to multiple closures on the highway and a driver has been charged with alleged impaired driving.

The OPP Highway Safety Division reported a tanker truck filled with wine collided with an SUV and a pick-up truck which led to a rollover for the tanker just after 10 p.m.

On Twitter, OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said the SUV was blocking a live lane which was then struck from behind by the pick-up truck. As a result of that collision, a transport truck was cut off and ended up in the centre median.

Schmidt said the driver of the SUV has been charged with impaired driving after refusing to provide a breath sample.

Eastbound and westbound 401 lanes were closed through the night from Highway 6 North to Guelph Line while clean-up took place. Westbound lanes are now open and all eastbound lanes are expected to reopen shortly.

OPP report only minor injuries at this time and an investigation is underway.
